There may be different memory systems. One memory system
may be short-term memory, and another memory system may be
long term-memory. What is short-term memory? What is
long-term memory?
Short-term Memory Definition:
Short-term memory is a memory system that retains a limited
amount of information for a brief period of time.
Long-term Memory Definition:
Long-term memory is a memory system that retains a large
amount of information for a long period of time.
Short-term Memory Example:
A short-term memory example is when you are at a party and you
learn someone's name, but you forget the person's name after about
five minutes.
Long-term Memory Example:
A long-term memory example is when you remember a concept
that you learned in a college course that you took twenty years ago.
