Test-Retest Reliability

Test-retest reliability is an important scientific concept.  It is an
important concept in developing and using a personality measure.   Thus,
it is important to define test-retest reliability.  What is test-retest
reliability?  Below is one definition of test-retest liability:

Test-Retest Reliability Definition:

Test-retest reliability refers to the extent to which a test or measure
administered at one time is correlated with the same test or measure
administered to the same people at another time

Test-Retest Reliability Example:

In order to have a clearer understanding of test-retest reliability, it is
important to provide an example.  Imagine that a researcher developed a
measure of loneliness.  The researcher administered the loneliness
measure to a group of 30 individuals at two different times.  The second
time was 3 months later than the first time.  The researcher found that
there was a .85 correlation coefficient between scores on the measure
for the two times.  The researcher concluded that this was evidence of
high test-retest reliability.
