             Procedural Memory

    There are a number of types of memory.  One of these types of memory is procedural memory.  What is procedural memory?  Below is a definition of procedural memory:

Procedural Memory Definition:

   
Procedural memory reflects our knowledge of how to perform certain skills and actions. 

    
We may have knowlege of how to perform many actions and skills, but we may not be able to express this knowledge in words.  Thus, procedural memories reflect a memory system that involves knowledge that may not be expressed in words.

rocedural Memory Examples:

There are many examples of procedural memories.  These include knowing how to ride a bicycle, drive a car, play the guitar, swim, use a pen, and play basketball.
