     It is important to define inference.  What is an
inference?   Below is one possible definition of an inference.

Inference Definition:

An inference is a judgment that is derived from facts and
evidence.


Inference Examples:

   
In order to have a better understanding of the concept of
inference, it would be important to consider possible
examples of inference.  Below are some inference examples:

1.  A person makes a judgment about whether pictures
influence donations to charity based on the findings of
randomized experiments concerning the influence of
pictures on donations to charity.

2.  While taking a walk in the neighborhood, a person makes
a judgment about the number of people who have cats in his
or her neighborhood by observing the number of cats that
are in the yards of the houses.
